Why this yacht
Why Lamima works for Komodo
Designed by Marcelo Penna of Barcelona and hand-built in ironwood and teak by traditional Indonesian boat builders Haji Baso and Haji Saka, Lamima launched in 2014 as the world's largest wooden sailing yacht and remains the only phinisi certified to the RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) international safety standard. Her 65.2 m hull carries 1,277 sq m of sail across two masts, with a 11.2 m beam, 3.7 m draft and a MAN 1000 hp engine cruising at 8 knots. Onboard she sleeps 14 guests in seven ensuite cabins — a full-beam master suite with dressing room, four doubles and two twins — all finished in contemporary Asian interiors with air-conditioning, Sensatia Balinese toiletries, bathrobes, in-cabin safes, Smart TVs and iPod connectivity. The 20-strong crew includes Captain Ifan (with Lamima since her 2014 launch), Cruise Director Ali (5,000+ dives), two Head Chefs (Yudha and Putu), two Balinese therapists (Koko and Dian), two PADI instructors and a Hatha yoga instructor. Life onboard is fully inclusive: unlimited diving on air or nitrox (Bauer Nitrox compressor onboard, gear for 14 divers, PADI centre #24554), unlimited massages and beauty treatments, yoga and meditation, an ice bath, a 2×2 m outdoor cinema, PlayStation 4, karaoke via Starlink, and a wellness area on the aft deck. Water toys include two Yamaha jet skis, two Flite E-Foil boards (Air and Scooter), two underwater scooters, a Tiwal sailing dinghy, six SUPs, two sea kayaks, six surfboards, a wakeboard and towable toys, launched from three tenders (11 m/250 hp, 7 m/100 hp, 5 m/40 hp). Lamima operates seasonally between Komodo/Sumbawa/Flores (June–October, based Labuan Bajo) and Raja Ampat/Triton Bay/Spice Islands (November–May, based Sorong).
