Direct answer
Why Padar Island?
Quick answer
Padar Island is Komodo's most iconic viewpoint — three curved bays with white, black and pink sand seen from a single ridge. It's a compulsory stop on almost every Komodo yacht itinerary and is best reached at sunrise from an anchored private yacht.
How to visit
Padar by private yacht
- Best time: sunrise or late afternoon — cooler, softer light, quieter trail.
- Hike: 20–30 minutes up wooden steps and a dirt path to the main viewpoint.
- Anchorage: most yachts overnight in the sheltered bay directly below the viewpoint.
- Combine with: Pink Beach in the morning, snorkelling at Kanawa or Siaba Besar in the afternoon.
