Quick answer

What diving equipment should a Komodo yacht carry?

Quick answer
A Komodo yacht charter with diving equipment should be chosen based on tanks, compressor, dive guides, tenders, safety setup and whether diving is included or charged separately. Not every private yacht has the same dive setup, so equipment and inclusions should be confirmed before booking.

Compressor & tanks

Dive compressor and tanks

An onboard compressor is what makes 2–3 dives per day possible without swapping tanks with another boat. Look for a serviced compressor (typically Bauer), enough tanks to give every diver a fresh fill between dives, and a mix of tank sizes so smaller divers aren't over-weighted. Jakare's brochure, for example, lists Bauer compressors and 30 aluminium tanks including kids' sizes.

Guides

Dive guides and instructors

  • Look for guides who have dived Komodo through multiple seasons — Batu Bolong, Castle Rock and Crystal Rock reward local current knowledge.
  • PADI or SSI Master Instructor / OWSI level is a plus if you want to run a specialty course.
  • Two guides on the tender lets you split a group by experience level.
  • Language: most Komodo dive guides brief in English; some yachts also offer French, Spanish or Italian.
Snorkel & tender

Snorkelling equipment & dive tender

  • Full mask, snorkel, fin sizes (including kids) available in the snorkel box
  • Life jackets and pool noodles for non-swimmers at Manta Point
  • Stable dive tender with easy back-entry ladder and dry bag storage
  • Rinse tank and camera-safe area on the dive deck
Inclusions

Typical diving inclusions & exclusions

Often included

  • Tanks and weights
  • Dive guide and briefings
  • Snorkelling gear
  • Tender use for dives and snorkelling
